Built on consistency, not trends
Salt & Pepper opened its doors in Medulin over ten years ago with a simple premise: serve bold, honest food in a place where guests feel welcome. That premise hasn't changed.
We've served hundreds of thousands of meals since then. Families who discovered us on their first holiday in Istria now bring their own children. German and Italian guests book the same week every year. Local regulars still sit at the same table on Sunday evenings.
What keeps people coming back isn't a viral dish or a celebrity endorsement. It's the certainty that the ćevapi will taste exactly as they remember, the fish will be fresh, the terrace will be warm, and the service will be genuine.
The things that don't change
Ingredients first
We source from Istrian farms and Adriatic fishermen we've worked with for years. If it's not fresh, it's not on the plate.
Fire is fundamental
Our grill isn't a decoration — it's the centre of our kitchen. Open-flame cooking gives meat and fish a depth of flavour you can't replicate.
Seafood, respected
Fresh fish deserves simple preparation: salt, olive oil, lemon, heat. We don't mask quality ingredients behind complicated sauces.
Hospitality as a system
Warm service isn't something we leave to chance. From the greeting to the bill, every touchpoint is designed so you feel looked after.
At the tip of Istria
Medulin is a small coastal town at the very southern end of the Istrian peninsula — relaxed, family-friendly, and far enough from the crowds to feel like a real place rather than a tourist zone.
Salt & Pepper sits in the heart of it. Our spacious terrace welcomes families with children, couples on holiday, groups of friends, and locals who've known us since the beginning.
Whether you've spent the day at the beach, explored Pula's Roman amphitheatre, or driven down from the hills of inner Istria, dinner at Salt & Pepper is how a good day ends.
See what others say
Don't take our word for it — read what our guests have to say, then come see for yourself.
